The Waterworks at Chestnut Hill is a beautiful Boston area condominium complex bordering the Chestnut Hill Reservoir that provides residents with a modern, glamorous condominium lifestyle in a historically significant architectural setting.

Authorized for redevelopment by the state in 2005 and designed by DiMella/Shaffer and Gund Partnership, thoughtful detailing and luxurious amenities abound, including stainless steel appliances, large windows, marble bathrooms, and hardwood floors.  The development spans several buildings, including the Watermark building, to comprise a total of 112 condominium residences.

Condo fees cover concierge services, fitness facility, a conference room, tennis courts, and deeded parking.  There’s also the Waterworks Museum on-site, which features information on the history of the public water supply and the role of the Chestnut Hill Reservoir in providing drinking water to the City of Boston.

I lived in the Chestnut Hill area when I first moved to Boston and fell in love with the location.  Close to downtown, yet far enough out that you are able to escape the hustle-bustle of the high rises and office spaces.  Close to Boston College, you’re able to walk to a football game, or even take a course at the College, without the hassle and worry of having to find a parking spot.  There’s also easy walking access to the B, C, and D branches of the green line for travel into the city.

Directly across from the Waterworks is the Chestnut Hill Reservation, a preserved open space that serves as a back-up water supply for the City of Boston and offers multiple walking trails, a variety of trees and shrubs, and a myriad of bird species. The Chestnut Hill Reservation was constructed in the 19th century and considered by many to be a winning trifecta of calculated engineering, calculated urban planning and innovative landscape design.  The Reservation is a landmark in the City of Boston and registered as a Historic Place on the National Register of Historic Places.  Most importantly, it’s more than just a nice place to admire, the Chestnut Hill Reservoir is great for running, jogging, walking your dog, and, depending on the season, skating or swimming at the ice skating rink and the swimming pool. Several condominiums are currently available, including a 1,714 square foot unit with two bedrooms and two bathrooms listed at $1,199,000, a 1,978 square foot unit with two bedrooms and two bathrooms listed at $1,599,000, and a 3,073 square food three bedroom three bathroom unit for $2,999,000.  Other units are available for rental.
